In order to better fulfill duties in the battle against the epidemic, China Law Society recently issued a notice, requiring all law societies to unite all legal practitioners to carry out studies on issues related to law-based epidemic control, coordinate related parties to enhance investigations and researches, and propose advice and countermeasures in time.

According to the report, in the battle against the novel coronavirus outbreak, law societies at all levels has fully fulfilled their duty, and have done fruitful work regarding to law-based epidemic control. Recently, China Law Society specially held a meeting and issued a notice, making further arrangements to implement the decisions on epidemic control made by the Party Central Committee.

The notice requires that in respond to the weaknesses exposed in this battle against epidemic, all law societies should strengthen studies on related legal issues, including perfecting emergency management system, improving capability to deal with emergent, difficult and heavy tasks, enhancing market supervision, and banning and fighting against illegal wildlife market and trade. Furthermore, all law societies should also provide theoretical supports and intelligent services for strengthening legal construction, guaranteeing public health, and controlling critical public health risks at the source.

The notice points out that law societies should unite and guide all legal practitioners to work under the leadership of Party Committee and Government, implement joint control measures, cooperate to carry out epidemic detection, screening and warning work, and enhance security in designated medical institutions and populated places.

All law societies should actively participate in the work of screening and resolving disputes related to the epidemic, provide assistance to crack down illegal behaviors and crimes that disturb social order, such as bidding up prices, forestalling, taking advantages of national disaster, producing and selling counterfeit and low-quality drugs, medical apparatus and instruments, medical sanitary materials, and contribute to enhance social security, resolutely fight against illegal behaviors and crimes according to law, and maintain social stability and national security.

Meanwhile, all law societies should also enhance publicity and education on related laws and regulations such as the law on prevention and control of infectious diseases, guide the general public to act and perform according to law, and contribute to form a harmonious, unified and tenacious social atmosphere.
