中共中央政治局5月29日下午就“切实实施民法典”举行第二十次集体学习。中共中央总书记习近平在主持学习时要求，全党要切实推动民法典实施，以更好推进全面依法治国、建设社会主义法治国家，更好保障人民权益。

习近平指出，《中华人民共和国民法典》，是新中国成立以来第一部以“法典”命名的法律，是新时代我国社会主义法治建设的重大成果。

习近平强调，民法典系统整合了新中国70多年来长期实践形成的民事法律规范，汲取了中华民族5000多年优秀法律文化，借鉴了人类法治文明建设有益成果。

While presiding over a group study session of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee on the effective implementation of the Civil Code on the afternoon of May 29, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, demanded the whole Party effectively promote the implementation of the Civil Code in order to better advance law-based governance of the country and the building of a socialist country based on the rule of law, and better protect the people's rights and interests.

Noting that the Civil Code is the first law to carry the title "code" since New China was founded in 1949, Xi said it marks a major achievement of the country in developing socialist rule of law in the new era.

The Civil Code systematically integrates the civil legal norms formed through long-term practices during more than 70 years of New China, drawing upon the Chinese nation's fine legal culture stretching back more than 5,000 years, and mankind's beneficial achievements in building a law-based civilization, Xi stressed.
